Clear-Com has demonstrated FreeSpeak Cell, a wireless intercom system that uses commercial or private 4G/5G networks as its infrastructure rather than relying on a dedicated local RF deployment.

The system is shipping in EMEA and initially works with Clear-Com’s Eclipse matrix. Clear-Com plans Arcadia and Avalon support by the end of 2026.

A FreeSpeak Cell frame supports up to 400 users, according to Clear-Com, and multiple frames can be networked to support up to 1,000 users on a single network. That approach is intended for productions where crew need intercom coverage across a large or geographically spread site, including locations where cellular coverage can reach areas beyond a conventional event compound.

The FreeSpeak Cell beltpack provides nine assignable keys, with up to nine simultaneous talk and listen connections. Clear-Com has positioned the system for broadcast and live-event operations that need production, direction and camera-control communications available to personnel moving across a venue or event site.
