The new supercardioid headset mic is positioned for discreet live-production placement, but DPA’s launch announcement leaves specifications, compatibility and availability unaddressed.

DPA Microphones says its 6388 CORE+ Directional Headset Microphone debuted at IBC2026. In a company post dated September 15, DPA identified the model as a directional headset microphone built around a supercardioid capsule.

DPA says the capsule is designed for discreet placement and precise sound capture in live-production environments. The company’s launch material also highlights fitting, positioning and locking the headset for all-day comfort. Its German-language announcement describes the microphone as using a CORE+ capsule, although the announcement does not define the CORE+ designation or identify a measurable benefit associated with it.

The launch post does not include frequency response, sensitivity, self-noise, maximum SPL, polar-response data or other complete technical specifications. It also does not state connector options, wireless-transmitter compatibility, supplied accessories, pricing, release timing or regional availability. DPA has not provided a direct comparison with its existing directional headset models in the announcement, and no independent performance or ergonomic testing is included.
