Tracktion Waveform 14.1 Adds AI Plugin Generation, Mix Analysis and Rebuilt Delivery Tools

The free update introduces Cmajor-based custom plugin creation and mix diagnostics, while Waveform Pro gains expanded stem-rendering and loudness-analysis options.

Tracktion has released Waveform 14.1, a free update for existing Waveform Pro 14 and Waveform Free users. Its central additions place AI-assisted plugin creation and mix analysis alongside rebuilt rendering and delivery tools inside the DAW.

Tracktion’s new Plugin Generation feature lets users describe an instrument or effect to Waveform’s Assistant. Tracktion says the Assistant writes Cmajor code, compiles the result, works through compilation errors and loads the finished plugin onto a track. Users can request automatable parameters and custom interfaces, while generated plugins are saved as editable project files for reuse or sharing. For producers and sound designers, that could allow track-specific processing or instruments to be developed without leaving an active session.

The Assistant can also analyze a full mix, individual tracks or selected ranges for loudness, true peak, dynamics, spectral balance, masking and mono compatibility, according to Tracktion. Its /mixcheck command evaluates a mix against a selected streaming-platform loudness target. Those tools sit alongside a rebuilt Render window with background render queues, configurable file naming and previews, plus LUFS normalization with a true-peak ceiling.

Waveform Pro adds stem rendering organized by track, tag, submix or output. Tracktion says its sidechain-aware processing is intended to retain the relationships required for rendered stems to sum back to the original mix. The Pro edition also gains loudness metering for momentary, short-term and integrated LUFS, loudness range and true peak against user-defined targets, as well as stereo-field, channel-timing and polarity analysis.

Other 14.1 changes include the Attracktive instrument in every edition, an inline plug-in detail editor, a rewritten MP3 encoder, clip-launcher updates and stability fixes. Tracktion also lists AI Profile options for using an existing ChatGPT subscription without an API key or local models through LM Studio and Ollama.
