Fender’s production-software update adds automation trimming and configurable solo dimming, expanded marker tools, vocal-processing options and MIDI 2.0 support on macOS and Linux.
Fender has released Studio Pro 8.2, a workflow-focused update to its music-production software. Fender says Trim Automation adds a channel- or send-volume layer for adjusting level rides without redrawing existing automation points, while Dim Solo Mode reduces non-soloed channels by a user-defined amount.
For arrangement and picture-oriented sessions, Fender says Studio Pro 8.2 supports multiple marker tracks, with markers tied to either time or bar-and-beat positions. The company also says video cue points can remain fixed when tempo changes, potentially helping editors maintain cue references through tempo revisions.
The update expands Stem Separation with guitar and piano isolation, which Fender positions for performance replacement, MIDI transcription and sampling. Vocal Tune gains a Follow option that reads key and scale without automatically changing the key, plus a Low Latency mode that Fender claims can reduce plug-in latency to under 3 ms for tracking and monitoring; results will depend on system and session configuration.
Fender also lists contextual replacement of Audio FX plug-ins on inserts and sends, Per Note Sound Variations that remain assigned when notes are moved, and improved track and channel freeze rendering. The company says the freeze changes can render insert effects while preserving channel volume and pan settings.
Studio Pro 8.2 adds MIDI 2.0 support for compatible hardware, including high-resolution velocity and controller data, Fender says. That support is currently available on macOS and Linux. The update is available to eligible users, including qualifying perpetual-license holders and Studio Pro+ subscribers.
